Wow. Beautiful story. It's bittersweet for me to read this, because in many ways, you had the birth that I wanted so badly. I am very glad that everything went so well for you though. And in the end, we both have gorgeous babies, so all is well ;)
I had to laugh when reading the part about you being ultra-polite during labor. I was the same way. Even during the most excrutiating moments, if a new nurse came in the room I would shake her hand and politely introduce myself, my husband, my mom, and the doula. At one point when there were a lot of people in the room I asked if anyone would like a beverage (I don't remember saying this but apparently everyone laughed). It was really weird that I was so polite, because I pictured myself being kind of bitchy and demanding during labor. My mom later told me that I never swore or said anything bitchy, even after 37 hours of painful labor and 3 hours of pushing :P
